Stila Makeup Player

Stila will launch the Stila Makeup Player on November 1 in the US. I don't know if or when it'll make it to Australia. An Ipod can be hooked up to it so it can play videos (make up advice and how-to's from Stila) and play music as it has speakers. It also comes with a foundation, lip glaze, convertible colour, eyeshadow and eyeshadow brush. I thought straightaway it looked cute, I wouldn't mind one for myself although I'm sure many will think it's a bit teeny bopper-ish. lol. It retails for $69.90 (USD). Unfortunately the Stila website does not deliver internationally :(( But the website's nice to look at anyway. I think the only shop that stocks Stila in Australia is Mecca Cosmetica.

Funky Designs

This is long overdue but Ramadan mubarak to all Muslims :) Imaan Collections (UK) have got some very outlandish designs like this one from their spellbound collection, which I'm guessing is inspired by Arabian night tales. There are other funky designs that are military, jazz and sailor inspired. Perhaps those who are adventurous enough will incorporate these ideas into their Eid outfit(s) or just order from them as they now deliver worldwide.

Covergirl Exact Eyelights

Apologies for the delayed post, have been caught up with uni work. I find this mascara has a better applicator (caught almost every lash!) than the maybelline's I reviewed previously. I notice less clumping and it stays on for hours. One thing though is probably the smell, not very pleasant. And I don't know if it really does brighten up my eyes as it claims to brighten your eyes according to your eye colour. Available in black pearl, black sapphire, black ruby and black gold. Retails at 17.95, available from most retailers and chemists. CoverGirl

Cosbag Item

The very bright chunky yellow mascara packaging certainly will grab your attention. It boasts a mega brush for extra volume, collagen to plump up your lashes and contact lens safe. I've exhausted my mascara supply months ago (I know! mascara's a must every day, what was I thinking!). So, after all that time, I finally bought this new Maybelline product and the Covergirl Exact Eyelights, which I'll review in the next post. I find that it really does add volume to my lashes and they do look a wee bit longer. It lasts quite a few hours, considering I rub my eyes a lot and washes off easily enough. I definitely recommend this as a cosmetics staple :)

Maybelline Volum' Express Colossal, available from most retailers and chemists, $18.75, in Glam Black and Classic Black (the official US website also listed Glam Brown and Classic Brown but didn't see them at the shops here).

Wardrobe Update

Arabella Ramsay Red Trench, mintshop.com.au

Updating your wardrobe doesn't necessarily mean chucking things out and spending hundreds of dollars replacing those items. You can transform a favourite red trench coat into something quite eye popping simply by substituting the plain red buttons with black ones, and voila! Similarly, you can do the same with a white coat, blouses, etc. Amazing what new buttons can achieve :) Of course you'd have to take time to sew *bummer* or pay someone a coupla bucks to do it for ya :) Have fun!

Raining Cats and Dogs

Stay cheerful in the winter rain with this absolutely gorgeous umbrellas seen on ebay.com.au. Instead of regular ol' brollie, opt for one of these dome-styled ones :)

Brollies

1. Lulu Guinness 'I Love You' Umbrella

2. Lulu Guinness 'Canvas Rose' Umbrella

both by seller cher1703

I have to confess I have a soft spot for Lulu Guinness; the brand is popular in the UK and Asia but unfortunately hasn't made its round in Australia. Their designs are quirky and cute, be it on bags, prams or umbrellas. Look out for them :)

3. Low Straight Denim by Riders by Lee, justjeans.com.au, $99.95

7. Lux Sateen Jacket by Sportsgirl, Sportsgirl, $99.95

8. Eelskin Clutch by Maiden Voyage, designeronline.com.au, $70.00

Vogue Australia claims that 'modesty is the new black' in its feature on full dresses. Guess they're not so spot on trends hey? Because we've been actively promoting that for nearly 1500 years lol. Anyway, here is the first fashion set for mid-winter. Your wardrobe need not be drab all winter; add a splash of colour to it by carrying a statement bag, an eye-catching piece of jewellery or a jacket that is other than neutral in colour such as this cobalt blue satin jacket by Sportsgirl; it's on sale btw. Change the handbag to a clutch and you're ready to go from a job interview to a nice dinner. Bear in mind not to "overcolour"; pick one or two pieces with colour and keep the rest of your outfit understated. Enjoy and do comment :)
